Hello everyone !

I am a French student. I am coming to study in Canada in January 2025 for 5 months. I would like to stay in Canada after these 5 months (January-May) as a tourist. I would like to stay for 3 months (May -August).
I am in the process of completing my immigration procedures but I don't really understand what I should do. If I understood correctly, I need the AVE but I don't know what else.

Thanks in advance !

Immigrating is coming to Canada as a Permanent Resident. Do you have study permit or coming on a visitor visa to study for less than 6 months with CAQ? If coming as a student or tourist then extend your stay with a visitor record.

Have you actually qualified for PR and received AOR?

Thank you for your reply ! From what I understand, I don't need a study permit because my studies last less than 6 months. My university told me that I had to apply for an eTA and then extend my stay with a visitor record (as you said).
So knowing all this, do you think I can buy a round trip to Canada by plane with an arrival in January and a departure in August? I'm a little worried because I'm afraid that customs won't let me enter the country if I tell them that I'm there for 6 months but that I'm leaving in August.

What country are you from? Your ticket should have a return at 6 months as you aren’t allowed to stay longer. So get a refundable/changeable return.
