Most of 2010 applicants have file numbers starting with E. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Now,
Let me share here my story.

This is with reference to an email received from “FSW-Centralized-Intake-Office” FSW-Centralized-Intake-Office @ cic.gc.ca dated xx-May-2010 recommending my application for final determination of eligibility for Permanent Residence.

As advised in above email, I had sent my full application along-with documents in a single package. On the Covering Letter, I mentioned my old file number B000000000. As per FedEx record the full application package was delivered at London Visa Office on xx-Sep-2010 within the specified timeframe of 120 days.

In February 2011, I lodged my complaint at (Question @ cic.gc.ca) regarding inability to log into the ECAS system using my old file number i.e. B000000000.

In March 2011, I received an email reply from (Question @ cic.gc.ca), the concern authorities gave me the new Immigration File Number i.e. E000000000 without any further details. This new Immigration file number is now being used for getting ECAS updates.

Certainly, I did not have the new Immigration File Number at the time of sending my full application pack therefore the old Immigration File number was wrote down on the covering letter.

Since now it's very long time I have not received any acknowledgement of receiving my full application package at London Visa Office. I am afraid that my full application pack has not been under review/consideration by the London Visa Office.

What happened with me ? I don't understand? why my initial file number changed with new one?? Can anyone have answer??

Don't worry ......file nos do change sumtimes when they arrive at local VO.......U were right in mentioning old file no. on covering letter when u sent whole package.

LVO does not sent AOR ......so need not worry......let the letter arrive and share it wid us so we can help u better :)

I think you should send a CSE. That will definitely clear things up.

Ya .... I am waiting a reply from CSE.

good, if you can access your ecas, there's no need to worry :)

My ECAS has two lines there, the line-02 was added on 01-Jun-2012.

Line01: We received your application for permanent residence on March XX, 2010.

Line02: We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on May XX, 2012 to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

I don't know what I am expecting in the above letter??

Dear Louth,
Actually I was assigned a file number started with B..... with my 1st AOR. Later, when I was getting trouble in signing-in, I sent my query to CIC. Then, they gave me another file number started with E..... Now I am using the new-one for checking my ECAS status.

What's your story dear Louth....?? Wana share ??

I have always had the "E" number from PER to COPR.Though we were also assigned a "B" when got the medical request.I have never had any problem acessing e-cas using either the"E"or "B" number. The most important issue in your case is that you can view your application status on e-cas and really no need to bother whether it's a E or B number.
