I am 19 and from America. I want to study in Canada and I also want to be a permanent resident and eventually apply for citizenship. In addition, I want to bring my partner so that we will be able to get married.

Can I apply for a study permit and also apply for permanent residency while I am there? And does anyone know how I can bring my partner?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Get accepted to university, marry partner, apply for study permit and apply for open work permit for partner, go to Canada, study, graduate, get a post-grad work permit, work, apply for permanent residency through PNP or CEC. We are probably talking 3.5 to 4 year process from arriving in Canada until PR. Depends on how long your college program is and how fast your PR is processed.

WillowIvy,

If this is gay marriage case so make sure 6 months hardly, they will take it, gay immigration is different from PRP, you only need marriage certificate and register urself through city hall in toronto, you will get PR but will have to wait for citizenship:)

Good luck,

Don't forget to invite me also:P
