My name is Stephanny and I am hoping to have my boyfriend who lives in Costa Rica move to Canada. I used to live in costa rica four years ago and thats when we first met and started dating, we dated for around a year but about four months into the relationship he went on a mission for our church and then i moved back to Canada. After about the year we decided to end the relationship because of the distance. He got back in 2016 and we started talking again. We didnt make it official or anything but back in May of this year, we started talking again. We became official again when i went to costa rica in june to visit him, i went again in August and again this month (october). We've discussed our future and dont want to build it in costa rica but rather here in canada. I realize there are a lot of odds stacked against us.
He is curently applying for a tourist visa to Canada but were in the process of that so no answer thus far. We plan on getting married soon but im scared that Immigration will look at that as simply an excuse to have him move here. We've looked into a student visa as well knowing that would be an option. Although we did stay together long distance for a year but then broke it off i dont know how immigration would look at that.
Im hoping for some insight as to where to start or maybe what the best visa option for him might be. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
