Immigrating as a Police Officer

Hi everyone,

I've recently heard about express entry. I've also read that one may apply for a permanent visa as a police office. Although my question is, is it really a thing? What I mean is, I live in Poland, I've always wanted to become a police/border guard officer and soon there is a great chance that it will happen. My plan is to gather knowledge and experience and let's say after about 2-3 years try to apply for the visa to work as a police officer. If it is not possible... well I still will be doing what I want and fell great in, but Canada is extremely fascinating and beautiful to live in and I would like to give it a shot.
So, could it happen? Is there need for police officers and can someone acquire a permanent resident visa being a police officer in Poland? I would love to know if its' probable so as not to set my mind on that if it is not quite real to achieve.

It will not be possible for you to get a temporary work permit to come to Canada and work as a police officer. You will have to immigrate first and become a permanent resident.

Yes, it's possible for you to get PR through Express Entry if you have enough points. Ideally you want to have around 470 points to have a good chance of being selected.

Thanks for the replies. I saw something about NOC 4311 that Police officers can acquire PR visas, but as I reckoned I would have to have a job offer in order to get over 500 points, For my age is 100, bachelor would be 110, language also around 130-150, and some other minor points. But I've never worked in Canada so in this area- no points for me. Job offer gives quite a solid up to 200, but well I don't think that I would get a job offer being a police officer here in PL. Maybe if i was a web developer or smth like that for I would be able to send some of my work to the future employer, but as for it is and will be, I believe it is better for me not to think seriously about moving to Canada. Shame but, who knows maybe one day it won't be just a dream, never know for sure

There is no separate immigration stream for police officers. They have to qualify through the same immigration programs as anyone else.

You should assume getting a job offer in Canada will not be possible. You will have to score enough points without having a job offer.

Incorrect. That applies to RCMP. Municipal PDs set their own rules and many have no minimum residency requirement for PRs.

You would still have to go to the police academy in Canada. This is what the officers I’ve talked to said, who were officers in UK before they moved here. UK and Canada, are just two of the countries that are part of the common wealth.

Thank you so much. It doesn't bother me to retake the whole recruitment process. I am aware that a different country can lead the process in a different way. I guess I will just have to try to apply in the future. Who knows, maybe I will get a little bit of luck. No harm will come with trying.
