Hello folks.

My name is Pietro, I am 28 originally from Italy and I have been living in Mexico City for almost a year now. I am an IT Technician and I am working for Colgate here in Mexico City.

I am wondering if I have any chances to apply for a certain immigration program (if yes, please which one) that would allow me to immigrate to Canada without holding a University Degree. Although my provinces of interest are Saskatchewan and Manitoba, I am willing to relocate to any province really.

Also my girlfriend (soon to be wife) has a University Degree in business and has 5+ years working for a big company as Purchase Director here in Mexico. I am wondering if once married we would have higher chances of relocating to Canada by applying together as family.

Best Regards,
Pietro

If your wife has better chance in EE system or PNP, you can put her as principal applicant and yourself as spouse.

A university degree isn't really required in FSW or Express Entry, just that it will net you fewer points for them.

You may want to look out for SINP-Occupations in Demand, in case they reopen with the same qualifications in the next few months. Did you at least complete one year of post-secondary (college or university) studies?

Hello belladona & mf4361.

I do apologize for the extremely late response but the notification email had somehow gotten lost through my inbox.

I had a look at the SINP-Occupations in Demand and it seem like that Computer and information systems managers is a skill in demand, which I should quality since I am a System Administrator and general IT technician with several years of experience.

I just do not quite understand what the number 213 0213 related to the Computer and information systems managers skill really means.

However though, I unfortunately do not have a year post secondary school finished, which from what I can see is a requirement.

Is it that important to have? Since the whole immigration process doesn't take a month or two, I could possibly enroll in a computer science university program so that I could have that year completed, but in the meantime I'd like to get started with FSW or Express Entry immigration process as soon as they are open again.

Could this work? I guess I will also need professional assistance to get things going and done properly.

Thanks

FSW/Express Entry is open right now - there's nothing stopping you from applying. Only those with scores of over 480 have been selected in recent months.

Hi scylla.

Thanks for the information. Is there a sort of points calculator based on skills, education, work experience and so on?

I am actually thinking of having my girlfriend (soon to be wife) apply, since she got a 5 years university degree in economic and has over 5 years working for a important Colombian company in Latin America.

Thanks

Yes - there is. It sounds like you need to spend time reading through the information on the CIC web site to familiarize yourself with the process.

* SINP Occupation on demand is closed for the year

* you can google NOC 0213 and the description of NOC should be the first result (Or any other NOC code)

* You don't need a consultant or lawyer to fill papers for you if you read the CIC / provincial government PNP website thoroughly. People usually have horrible stories about consultants. YMMV.

* You cannot claim to have the qualification while studying toward it. You have to have prove at point of application. Btw, undergrad Comp Sci degree is 4 years.

* There is nothing stopping you from creating EE profile if you qualify FSW (unless it rejects you for below 67 points, you will know when you finish the forms)
