very soon!!
Hi everyone,
I have not been on this forum for quite a while....just been too busy but I need some help from people who have already landed. When you land, you get a "confirmation of permanent residence" which is the IMM5688 form that is given at the airport upon arrival. For some reasons, we only have a photocopy and can't find the original copy. We've been going through our boxes of papers (as you know, immigrants and their spouses have LOTS of papers!!) ;) My husband can't remember if he had the original copy with him (and it's just a matter of finding it-it has to be in the house) or if they keep the original copy when you land and give you a photocopy of the document. Can someone please let me know if we should have the original or not. Perhaps we are searching for something we don't have.....Thanks in advance for your help! Kind regards!!

Yes. You (and we) only get a client copy of the original -maybe that is in fact considered an original... our "client copy" has original signatures and check marks on various descriptions, etc..., and blue ink date stamps.

Copies of our "original" COPR have served us throughout our settling process thus far

to clarify, we have only had to submit photocopies of the original client copy for various further resident requirements - MSP, SIN, etc.

Thanks so much ABCml for your prompt response! That means that we should have a copy with original signatures and blue stamps....so we'll keep on searching.....hopefully, we'll find it soon!! Thanks again!

you are given 2 copies of the COPR for landing. AT landing, CBSA keeps 1 and gives you the 2nd copy. AFTER landing, the PR will only have 1 copy. If he hasn't landed, he needs 2 copies FOR landing.

The copy you get after the landing is complete can be used for future entry and provincial/federal services.
