Hi everyone,
My partner and I will be eligible to apply for sponsorship as common law at the end of this month. I'm the sponsor (born in Canada; living in BC), and he's the applicant. We have a couple of questions that we're hoping you can help us with.

1. IMM 5669 asks for his mother's city and country of birth. His mother was born in the Soviet Union, and the city has since changed its name quite significantly (if you didn't know they were the same city, you'd never be able to guess). Do we list the city/country as it was when she born, or what it is now? Do we list both, with one name in brackets? Do you think CIC even cares which combination we put down?

2. For the education history part in IMM 5669 - my partner attended high school and finished with his friends, but never officially graduated because he didn't pass a couple of exams. A few years ago, he went back to do the equivalent of "adult high school education" and successfully passed all the exams. Do we bother mentioning this in the education question, or just put that he finished secondary education when he would otherwise have graduated?

3. For the 5 year history of the sponsor's place of residence - I spent six months doing an internship in Europe, and then I traveled for a month following that. Once the month of travel was up, I temporarily moved back to my parents' place for about a month and then moved back to an apartment in a different city, where I was doing my Masters. What do I put for that month when I was traveling? Just "Traveling in Europe"? Also, would it make sense to include some sort of explanation on a different page, since I was bouncing around addresses a lot?

As always, thanks for your guidance and advice. We've been following the posts on here, and really appreciate seeing everybody else's experience.

Thanks!

Hi

1. Just put what it was called. Doesn't really matter.

2. Mention it.

3. Just put that you were travelling. No need to explain.
