it asks: Have you the sponsor previosuly been sponsored yourself for Permenant residence? Yes/No

I am so confused by this. this question is under previous relationship, so i am guessing they are asking if a spouse/conjugal partner has sponsored me, right??

i was a dependent of my parents who was sponsored by my brother. so basically i was sponsored by my brother.

please clarify.

It is asking if you, were you sponsored to come to Canada as a PR which from what you have said the answer is yes. You would answer no if you are a Cdn citizen who didn't come here thru sponsorship.

If I required that the entire PR sponsorship process to make sense to me I never would have applied. It's a mess. It's a Frankenstein's Monster of processes and data collection that has been stitched together by bungling bureaucracy.

I am actually not certain about the answer to this question but can't find any answer in the various guides to the specifics.

BUT: the easy answer here to avoid any ambiguity is to include a short letter of explanation, with names and basic dates. E.g. Brother (so-and-so) sponsored my parents [names] in [year] and I was their dependent and immigrated with them.

At least in this way will be clear with no question that you were not sponsored by a previous spouse, for example, that would put limits on your own ability to sponsor.
