imm5406e - Unknown address of father

Hi there, I recently submitted the application and it was sent back claiming "Incomplete field, such as date of birth and/or address information
Complete address should include unit number, street number, street name, city, and country, postal/zip code"

We had put "Not applicable" in the field for my wife's father since his status is unknown. They haven't spoken in 18 years or so and the last time was on the phone. I'm wondering if I should put "Unknown" and some note mentioning that they haven't been in contact in 18+ years.

Another possibility for the returned application could be that there wasn't enough room to write the country in the address box.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you include a letter to explain why you couldn't fill it out? I'm sponsoring my wife from Ecuador and her parents don't really have an address...I simply just wrote a letter to explain and I've had no issues so far.

N/A for the address only applies if the parent is dead. You needed to explain the situation on a separate sheet.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think about adding an additional sheet. I guess the best plan would be to add more information to explain the situation. Thanks for the help!

As long as it is explained, it won't have any effect on the app. Many people have no contact with family members.
