Hi, my wife (Canadian Citizen) is currently filling out the IMM1344A to sponsor me (New Zealand Citizen) for PR in Canada.

Our daughter was born at the start of the year and it is my understanding that as Mom is Canadian born, she is also automatically entitled to Canadian citizenship too. Is this correct? If yes, does she need to be included on the 1344A as she is a dependent child of mine (the principal applicant) or not as she is already a citizen?

Also (still assuming the above answer was yes), as our daughter would not require sponsorship what paperwork do we need for her to enter Canada?

Finally once all the application for my PR is complete and all approved, how long is it valid for and in what time frame would we need to actually move to Canada. At this stage we are looking at moving across around fall 2011 so want know when to start the application so that it is all done in time but also gives us flexibility if needed.

Thanks for you help,
Simon

1. She is a citizen, but you have to apply for proof of citizenship. As it takes a long time, once you have applied for proof then you can apply for a Canadian passport for her. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob154.asp
2. The sponsorship will take about 2 months to be approved at Mississauga and another 3-9 months at Sydney. Since the medical is only valid for 1 year and the visa will only be valid for 1 year after the date of the medical, the police certificates can't be older than 3 months when you submit the application, you should think about apply in about Dec. Apply for the daughters proof and passport pretty soon.

This is an older thread but I'm not clear about the answer to the question regarding dependent child. On IMM1344A Section C#3 Accompanying child. If I am sponsoring my husband and our child already has Canadian Citizenship and a Canadian passport do we need to put her name as the the Sponsored person's dependent child or not?

You do not put the Canadian citizen child in the PR application as an accompanying dependent, only in the additional family information.
