Folks,

My father is filling out the IMM 5669E and he is on Question 8. As I understand from the form, he needs to fill it from the last 10 years since that is most recent for him.

This an excerpt from the CIC instructions to fill out IMM 5669E:
Provide the details of your personal history since the age of 18, or the past 10 years, whichever is most recent.

But I have read elsewhere on this forum that some people had suggested listing it back from the age of 18. From my experience, what they ask for is what should be provided - no more no less - but what I have read on this forums has me thinking otherwise.

What has been your experience with this?

Hi, I also have the same question. Per my understanding, it should be the last 10 years. But some people say it should be since 18 yrs. old. The problem is, that was too long ago and my mom who's in her mid 70's can hardly recall the details especially the to/from when she was out of our home country. That's the dilemma. If it's just 10 years, it will be easier for her.

Did anybody who used last 10 yrs in personal history got any problem or was approved?

I had my husband fill it out from the time he was 18. I just read so many post about them requesting additional information on this subject we just did ..It was pretty tough as my husband is 52 . If its to hard i would suggest you go back the 10 years and hope they don't request any more .

Thank you for your inputs, Taffy7. Anybody else who can share your experience with this?

There have been more than a few applicants that had to provide information back to age 18, but there's no rhyme or reason why CIC asked them to go back that far!

The problem is that if CIC DOES ask you for all that additional information during the process, they will likely want it pretty quick. It's a good idea to start writing things down now, just in case!

i am 36 and i supplied information for the past 10 years, not since i was 18. i had no further requests or issues with this. i would say, if the applicant is over a certain age they only need it for the past 10 years as indicated. as always, it will depend on the visa office and the visa officer.

It may be the other way around; if an applicant is > 40 they may want information back to age 18.

Of those that I've read about here that had to later provide this information, I think most were older applicants.

that's so weird. just another CIC mystery.

and actually i just remembered im 35, not 36... i think! i always forget how old i am! oye!!!!! ;) either way, still didn't cause an issue.

Thanks, Ponga. That's what we're doing now, starting to recall from 1955 but for the meantime, we may send the last 10 years coz we have to give them accurate info. We are still trying to look for very old passports and other docs to support "since age 18" history.

Thank you so much, rhcohen for sharing your positive experience. Somehow, i got a relief. I will go on with the last 10 years first and hope that our visa office/officer will be satisfied with it. I will still continue to research my mom's history since 18 just in case.

Thanks to all who responded.
