I'm just wondering if anybody can help me, im not sure what I should exactly be applying for so I don't waste my time. Im 23 years old with bachelors uni degree, born in England and lived here all my life. My mum however is Canadian, my grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins etc still all live in Canada and are full Canadian Citizens. Can I apply directly for a Canadian citizenship? or would I be better to apply for a short term 1-2 year working visa? If anyone can point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful.
thanks

Assuming your mother was born in Canada, you are a Canadian citizen. Apply for confirmation of citizenship: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp

thanks for replying ! she was born in england but moved to canada when she was 2 years old

If she is a naturalized Canadian, depending on when she was born etc etc, you may still be able to get your Canadian citizenship as the first generation born abroad. Take the citizenship test located here to see if you qualify.

Does naturalized mean she moved then and then became a citizen of canada?

Yes, naturalized means she was born a citizen of another country and then met the requirements to become a Canadian citizen. For example, if her parents were PR's and came to Canada way back when and she was naturalized as a Canadian citizen, depending upon when all this happened (reason why I said to check the citizenship link) she may be able to pass her citizenship on to you as the first generation born abroad. It really depends on a few factors, so take the little test that is on that link and it will advise you if it thinks you are eligible or not.
