Hi,

For PG level courses, you need IELTS score of 6.5 overall with MINIMUM 6.0 in all bands. Since you've 5.5 in Writing, you should consider reappearing and improving your scores, even though the individual colleges may or may not accept your score.

Why are you considering colleges and not Universities?
Since, you've distinction (70% or above) in your B.E, why don't you consider going for M.S in Mechanical engineering or get a 2-3 years work ex, appear for GMAT and apply for MBA!

Aim higher!
Think about it.

Best of Luck.

Hey Tiger,

If u note - One of the forum member Sana Eqbal got a Visa for PG Diploma even though she had 6 band overall...
I think the VO would look out for the overall band and not the individual...

Let me know ur thoughts

Again this might not be a surety...but keep researching

Prashant,

How did u know that u got rejected due to lower course selection?? I dont think that VO mentions or states anything rather it just provides a generic refusal info

Hi,

I did not comment on the possibility of getting a visa or not, regarding the above member's case with respect to his lower writing band score in IELTS. I just merely said the minimum required score for admission to PG level courses at Canadian colleges and also mentioned that they he may or may not be accepted with that score. And reccomended him to consider improving his IELTS score and aim for higher level university courses.
And it cannot be denied, that higher IELTS score is always a positive thing.

No one can tell about the decision of visa, as one may get visa with lower IELTS score and one may be denied even though that person may have a very high IELTS score. Visa is dependent on many factors including good profile and strong financials! So... nothing is sure!
