Hello All,

I am in the process of sponsoring my parents( The PR application was approved and sent to the local VISA office for the rest of the process), in the PR application I included my mother as the primary applicant and father as a dependent..(spouse)...long story short in 1994 my father went to Italy overland and worked there for close to two years without a legal VISA permit...however in 1996 he came back home and never returned to Italy again....My parents included this in the PR application since it says to include all the places a person has been since the age of 18...they also submited a police report from Italy for my Dad...(the intention is to show that even though he lived in Italy illegally he did not commit any crimes apart from the fact that he was there without a VISA)

Anyways will this act that happened almost 15 years ago have an affect on the PR application? Does this qualify as a reason to deny my parents PR application ? Will they approve my mothers but deny my fathers?

Thank you for all your help and feedback.

Has no effect on the application at all.

Thank you PMM for your response.

My parents had their interview this week and was told that this situation(above posting) will be sent to some sort of a board to be assesed to determine if it violates any Canadian immigration laws. No details were given about the process and were told that the embassy will be in touch.

Any idea what this means .? anything we can do to find out more details...the application still says "in process" on ecas..?

Any feed back on this???????

as PMM says it will have no bearing on them having a Canadian PR, his criminal record is clear that was years ago...nothing to worry about

dont read much into it, they just got an IO that is wanting to dot every i, so to speak, they weren't asked to leave, they dont have a criminal record and its been 15 years, dont worry, the IO will check and there will be nothing to be said, the application will continue processing as normal
