Hello,
So my (Canadian citizen) wife (Japanese national) originally thought there was no stamp in her passport so she thought she had 6 months in Canada as a visitor. Turns out for whatever reason she had a stamp and the officer put June instead of July for 5 months.

Thankfully, we applied the same day status was to expire for a visitor extension and said it is for waiting for PR documents. That being said, we are nervous that IF the visitor extension is rejected, which could take months to find out, she will be out of status. And I believe the out of status would retroactively apply to the original expiration (it will be as if the application to extend was never sent).

Question is, if we apply for the PR and open work permit while the visitor extension hasn't yet been refused or returned to us for incompleteness (it isn't incomplete, just the digital photo we provided online might not meet requirements, or minor stuff like that) will they still be processed normally, and what are the chances she'll be granted an open work permit? And if the visitor extension is rejected or returned and she becomes out of status after we send the PR and OWP applications, or during the PR and OWP processing, what does that mean for our PR and OWP applications?

To clarify we are still waiting for some documents before applying for PR and OWP. Should be done before July 16th. In-land type sponsorship.
