Hi everyone,

if someone got the PR, does he have to travel to Canada immediately?
or he can move to Canada after some time, like a year or so?

Thanks,

Permanent residents must be in Canada for two years (730 days) out of every five years, so in theory you don't have to move for a full three years after becoming a PR. (You do need to travel to Canada at least briefly to validate your application and receive your PR card, but after that can leave.)

However, it is best not to cut it this close in case something comes up that prevents you from travelling in time. A year to sell your house, find a new job, etc. is reasonable, but the point of PR is to commit to living in Canada.

If the person got his/her PR visa, they must land Canada before the expiry date of the PR visa. After landed, they can depart Canada immediately. But they will have to meet their Canadian permanent resident Residency Obligation 730 days out of every five years.
