Hello everyone ...
I took my IELTS on March 19th, 2011 and it lasts for 2 years until it gets expired.

However, Today CIC returned my application marking it as incomplete and stating that IELTS should not be older than 2 years from the date that it has been submitted to CIC

So basically there is 13 days left on my IELTS as it will expire on March 19th 2013 so it is valid. Am I right an can complain about this or am I missing something here?

You are right. Your IELTs is still valid. There seems to be a mistake in CIC's part. You can write to them about their mistake and try to get your application reassessed. Btw, when did you submit your application?

I submitted my application on February 25th so I believe this is the date they consider.

If I resend my application, do they consider Feb 25th or do they record the new date?

Who returned the application?

If it was the visa office, I would send a case specific enquiry ASAP (via https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=new) including a scanned copy of the letter you received and of the IELTS score. I would explain your understanding of the rules you did above and refer them to the attachments and explain that you think this was an error that you'd like to resolve as soon as possible. Ask them how to return your application to them for further review.

Hopefully you hear back very quickly with further instructions. Otherwise, if you can go to the Embassy do so or you'll need to reach out to the Program Manager and/or involve a lawyer.

It depends on the specifics of the letter. If 'they' (who is 'they' btw - CPC-S, visa office) returned it and asked you to reapply if you simply resubmit it they would consider the new date. That is why it's essential that you reach out soon so they can either reinstate the existing application or receive the new one before your IELTS expires.

If you submitted your application Feb 25 of this year, I assume you have arranged employment or are applying under PhD stream.

Thanx for the link, but there is a problem with the server. it asks me to enter charachter but then it return an error. I guess I'm gonna call CIC tomorrow morning.

Try again. It works for me on two random Embassies I just tried. Otherwise use the e-mail address for the Embassy.

If you are in Canada, calling is a good idea also.

thanx a lot for your help. I hope I don't get to take IELTS test again. this would be my third time taking IELTS lol. I'll try to email them. and Yes I am in Canada and I have a permanent job offer and since I am on work permit. I'm not required to have AEO. just a letter from my employer that I will have a permanent job offer upon my acceptance.

Centralized Intake Office (CIO)
I actually emailed CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry@cic.gc.ca

If CPC-S returned the application, then you need to discuss this matter either with them or with the call centre. If they don't reply soon, fax them a copy of your e-mail along with attachments and confirmation that you sent it att'n Program Manager.

You need to make sure that they re-receive it before it expires so manage your timing very carefully.

I think your IELTS 2yrs validity expired on February 19 instead of March 19 as you might have expected.

I'll advice you dont give up but wait till you get a formal response from CIC.

it is well !
