Would like to to know NOC-2171 falls under which skill type.

IELTS score as below

Listening - 6.5
Reading - 7.0
Speaking - 6.5
Writing - 5.5
Overall Score - 6.5

Would appreciate if anyone could confirm whether results meet language criteria.

assuming are you want to apply under "CEC", NOC 2171 is under Skilled Level A

In order to qualify to for CEC Skilled Level A, you'd need to have atleast a "6" in all four categories. Therefore, you do NOT qualify at this moment because of the "5.5" you received on your writing.

Is it mentioned somewhere on the CIC website that you need atleast "x" score based on the Skill level?
How do I convert my score to the CIC requirement?
Listening - 7.5
Reading - 8.0
Writing - 6.0
Speaking -8.5
Overall -7.5

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language.asp < --- here it tells you the requirements for Skilled Level 0, A, and B

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp <---- here tells you how to convert your scores to CLB Levels

This is so helpful, thanks Johnny31.
I was actually getting worried about my Writing Score of 6, but since I still fall in CLB7, I think I'm OK.
The links that you mentioned are for CEC and nobody can comment I believe on the new FSWP requirements ;)

Thanks Johnny. Much appreciated.

Next IELTS test date is not available before June 22. In that case would not be able to submit application before
mid of july. Will it be too late for this year to apply in CEC category.

1. When it reaches the VO for the eligibility with 5.4 in writing, you can expect a refusal.

Thanks PMM.
But the PR guide states as below

NOC CLB Level Test result for each ability
Speaking Listening Reading Writing
0, A 8 6.5 7.5 6.5 6.5
0, A 7 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0
0, A, B 6 5.5 5.5 5.0 5.5
B 5 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0
B 4 4.0 4.5 3.5 4.0

So, as per row three, which is applicable for all 0,A and B. Score of writing 5.5 should be fine. Please correct me if I have understood it wrong.

From the Instructions for FSW1 "Language ability

You must meet minimum language levels and include the results of a language test from an agency approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) when you apply that shows you meet the minimum language requirement of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7. " which is 6 across the board.

Thanks again PMM. I gave test last year but submitted the application this year under CEC.
I think they have changed the rules this year as I see on CIC CLB 6 is not longer there for Skill A, though it's there in the PR guide which I used.
For the safe side, I'll re-take the IELTS and will submit the result again.
