From what I've seen, if you can get 7.0 overall and 6.5 in the lowest band, you should be good to go.
Check the requirements for the specific program/institution you plan to apply to. This minimum requirement varies depending on the program and level of studies as well as the institution.
Put your comfort aside and do some browsing through the institutions' websites
Most colleges keep a standard requirement as minimum 6.5 overall and no band less than 6.. but there are few colleges even with 5.5 bands they accept students...do check the institution requirements which you intend to apply in their official website..
As said above Minimum with 7 overall bands gives u a slight edge at the time of visa processing

I have IELTS 6 overall (w 6.5, r 6.0, s 6.0 l 6.0 ) If I am accepted to a PG level program in a college or University with 6 overall (PG diploma, Post baccalurate diploma, Post Grad Certificate any PG level) What is the probability of getting a visa under SDS ? Where as SDS requires minimum ielts 6 overall not less than 6.
