Dear friends, does any one know any university in canada who offers admission at 5.5bands?
Let me know
with thanks

no ........ even if u find that type of university, your chances of getting visa will be too less .... so better way reapply for IELTS, shortcut doesn't work for long time !!!!!!

bro why not u re-appear in ielts and try to score atleast 6.5,which will be accepted widely.

this score would be much better..

overall score: 7.0 or 7.5
bands: no band below 6.0

Sir, 8 is also better than 7,but just tell him that score which is at least acceptable. :)

i dont who told people all that?
honestly you IELTS is not mandatory....there are many universities which would accept you on basis of letter from your school stating that you have done your schooling in ENGLISH...there are also some universities which would give you admission on basis of your class 12th board exam like if you have scored 70+...
so talk to some genuine consultant about it...also note that a genuine consultant would not chard a single penny from you...so ensure before going to some if they would charge or not
also talk email universities regarding this...

nop even if u get in some university CHC will take a stance on this, so its better to take ielts and score at least 6.5 with no less then 6.0
there are ielts exemption list, if your previous institute lie in that list and u have strong back ground then you can have a go.

To all,

as few of you rightly mentioned, there are some schools

- who would accept band of 5.5
- who would give u an english test as an alternate to IELTS
- IELTS score has nothing to do with ur visa - it is college who decides to accept or refuse (meaning: if u dont have ielts then few colleges have their own english test - ex: George Brown College)

let me know if any questions.

No. 5.5 won't land you in any university. There might be some college which you might be able to get in but again, 5.5 bands don't fulfill the minimum requirements for the Canadian student visa.

A quote from one of my previous posts:

"Dude, don't think of the IELTS as just something you need to get a visa. If your English is not good enough, you'll have difficulties studying in Canada. You need to improve your English to at least a band 6.5 level."

I am in complete agreement with what you are saying but the thing is no one really cares until they come to Canada, start studying and that's when it strikes like a rocket that they are having some serious hard time studying and keeping up with profs.
