My exam is on 16th of this month . I have Official IELTS Practice Materials 2 book with me , my english is ok and I want to get at least 6.0 in all categories . I would appreciate if someone in this forum can share experience or provide some useful tips/guides ( link/post) for success .

I had personally gone thro the book and CD we get along with registration with IDP, and simon ielts website. For writing and speaking, Pritesh Thakkar book was a great help.

Also, I had practiced speaking multiple times (do it with a friend or record and listen) and understood format for writing tasks and practiced both tasks 2-3 times, apart from giving multiple Listening tests. I had given only 2-3 Reading tests and was getting pretty decent score so didn't practice that much to save time for other sections. Give 2-3 full length tests especially one 1-2 days before the exam. Also keep listening to BBC NEWS and other mock tests of IELTS on you tube. I identified, for me, writing and reading were not much of an issue, so I practiced for listening and speaking. Suggest you too to first give few tests and analyze where you need improvement and then work of that.

It is not that easy to provide appropriate advice to an individual you do not know at all. It is very case specific. My general suggestion is to train practice tests and improve your skimming/scanning techniques. It is also a good idea to ask someone to throw unexpected questions and topics to you so that you would need to provide relevant answers or to talk for a minute or two on a topic that does not concern you at all. You will also need standard clichés, grammar structures and vocabulary used in formal and informal letters or when you provide evidence or your opinion on some matter. All of that is available online, just google. There's no time to focus on English itself but there's plenty of time to obtain some useful skills required to succeed in this exam.
