Hi All

I received my AOR on May 10th and I've 120 days to submit my Full Application.
I've not given IELTS. I've an Engineering/MBA from India and have extensively worked with Fortune 500 cos. in US/Europe.

Could you suggest/share your experiences as to what should I do?
Give IELTS asap? or request for waiver?

Thanks in advance

do ielts...based on what others have written here.

Take the IELTS... Don't make the same mistake as others who think they are too good to take a test and months after they are crying foul play because the IO gave them 0 points for Language ability. If English is not your native language, just take it!

Regards.

You know what. By asking non-native English speakers to take IELTS, CIC is not just assessing their language abilities but they are actually adding another layer to the immigration process for them. To me its just another tool to demoralise 'half-hearted' applicants so CIC receives less applications. And trust me, there will be loads of skilled people who will give up on Canada just because taking an English test for immigration will look like a silly idea to them. Think about it, CIC has a huge inventory of old applications to clear and they need time to do that too and thats not possible until the number of new applications they receive calm down a bit.

You have to also look at this way, if an Immigrant can't communicate in either official language it does him/her not much of a chance in Canada. All it will give is low paying jobs with really no future.

True, but I wonder why Australian immigration rules require even the native English speakers to take IELTS if they want to claim full points for language? Theres a control mechanism in play (at different levels) for each country which most of us don't realise.
