Have you even READ his/her question?

OP is asking about whether user General IELTS or Academic ( which by chance is not expired yet), so CIC recommend you to go for General IELTS. Although I read one post in past where some one submitted Academic and was accepted, but when its one requirements of General IELTS, OP must go for general.

I dont hv General IELTS yet but hv valid Academic one ...can use that one..r hv to write General one....that's wt i mean to say..do u think its risk taking to use Academic one?....thanks

There have been cases wherein the Academic IELTS have been accepted. I am one of those cases. BUT I would not recommend it. Looking back, it was a risky move and I would not have done it again. If you have achieved the required points in the Academic then I don't see why you won't be able to repeat that with the General. Go for general to be sure.

As a matter of rule, the GENERAL version is the recommended version for Immigration purposes to Canada, Australia and NewZealand. However, there are numerous instances where they have accepted the Academic versions. If I were you, I will definitely put in the Academic version. If they do not accept it, they will definitely write to you to present the General version.

Apply with Academic. As everyone has mentioned that CIC accepts General but many visa offices also accept Academic.

Though it is not mentioned in the OP manual but generally Academic IELTS is little difficult than General and Academic IELTS is to judge the proficiency on an individual for academic purpose and general is to test the proficiency for everything except academic.

In short, IELTS - General is as per the CIC rule. Academic might/shall be accepted by some visa office but it is safe to submit what is asked that is General.

I heard that nurses, who plan to immigrate, need to take the Academic IELTS, instead of the General. Can u confirm that?
