Hi all,

I'm from Switzerland, currently in Canada BC with a study permit, in the VFX industry. I got a job offer and as I am eligible for IEC Young Professionals, I'd like to apply for a work permit.

My CIC application has a list of documents that mentions IMM5802 as an "optional" document. I wanted to fill it in, but here is what happens: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1266&top=17

My questions:
- Does an IEC Young Professionals work permit require an LMIA ?
- If this document is "optional", do I need to worry about it ?
- Does my employer need to deal with this whole "employer portal" thing in order for me to get the permit ?

Thanks for your precious time.

Cheers,

Martin

LMIA is not required with an IEC/YP

As an IEC-YP worker I can confirm an LMIA is not required, and the employer does need to create the job offer through the portal (and pay a fee).
