Hi everyone,

I'm a UK Citizen currently living in Toronto and I have applied for PR and yet to receive an invite. My current work permit is due to expire in April and was wondering if there is anyway I can stay in Canada while in the pool or would I have to leave and go back to the UK??

You can apply to change your status to visitor before your IEC expires so that you can remain in Canada as a visitor. Of course you'll need to stop working as soon as your IEC expires.

If you happen to get ITA and submit your application before your IEC expires, then you can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit which allows you to remain in Canada and also continue working.

How many points do you have?

I'm on 400 points at the moment but should have a year experience in April working full time so I'm assuming I could go in the CEC instead of the FSWC but it will mean I will have to go home?

The FSW and CEC Express Entry pool is the same. Right now you need around 470 points to be selected for either program. Once you have a year of Canadian work experience you will automatically qualify to be selected under CEC.

You are well below the required cut off right now. Unless you can substantially increase your score, FSW and CEC aren't options for you. You may want to start looking into the PNP streams now.

Your question about going home has already been answered in my original response above.
