Hello! I recently applied for my work permit via IEC and filled out the application with no problems. About a week after I submitted, my program coordinator e-mailed me and told me they were just informed that all applicants would need a Police Certificate, which I know takes 14-16 weeks to process. I sent out a request just in case but I'm really starting to panic because I know I won't have it by the time the application is completed.

But I'm kind of confused because in my initial application on CIC, it never asked for a Police Certificate or anything of the sort. I haven't heard anything about it since and it's been nearly 3 weeks since I've submitted my work permit application. If someone could tell me whether or not I need Police Clearance or if there are other options for me, that'd be much appreciated!

You need to provide a police certificate to be approved unless the following applies to you:

Are you a citizen of Belgium, France, Japan, Mexico, Spain, or Switzerland?
You do not need to provide a police certificate from your country or territory of citizenship. You do have to provide a police certificate from countries where you have lived for six months or more.

Right, I saw that on the website already. So I assume that means they'll ask me for my PCC at a later time then? Because it was not requested at the time I first filled in my application.
