Hi guys! I have a question re mental health and relocating. I am moving in early August (from Australia) to be with my partner.

When I put my visa application through, it said I required a medical exam (due to a minor physical disability which, at the exam, they didn’t even note down) and on attendance at this exam, they require a letter from my GP confirming I am okay to live overseas, because I am on medication for depression/anxiety.

I have held down a stable full time job as a paralegal for five years, whilst studying law full time, so my abilities to be a functioning human are not exactly impaired by my mental health issues.

But, since lodging my IEC, it says I no longer require a medical! So I might be worrying over a moot point.

I am just wondering if anyone had issues in respect of moving and mental health. I am terrified they might reject my visa!

I won't really need any ongoing support in Vancouver (Other than to buy my medication), so I might be stressing over nothing!

I am really stressing over this and not finding any solid response online.

Thanks, guys!

You should be fine. IEC participants have to have their own insurance unless you qualify for the provincial insurance plan. IEC is a limitted time period and younger people so the concern is not as great.

That’s a massive relief. Awesome. Eventually I will be wanting to apply for PR but for now I just want to get there on the IEC!

Just to add if you are on regular medication that you may still have to take that you cannot bring any more than a 90 day supply of any prescription drug into the country

Yeah I was fairly aware of this one but some research says my meds are available there. My partner also lives in BC so it’s a huge help research wise!
