I'm a US citizen who currently works in cloud computing and systems administration. My degree from a US university is a B.A. in Public Relations. It's been several years since I worked in that profession.

Could I be exempt from the LMIA requirements?

Reading this forum suggests it's very difficult to find an employer willing to process an LMIA. If I can't get an exemption, what are my options for getting a Canadian job? I am not currently in Canada.

Your options are:

1) Get a job offer and then qualify under CUSMA. (I don't know if you will qualify for an LMIA exemption.)
2) Get a job offer and approved LMIA.
3) Get permanent residency through an economic immigration entry like Express Entry so that you can work without the need for a work permit.
4) Come to Canada on a study permit and study 1+ years full time so that you can qualify for a post graduate work permit after completing your studies.
