i quit my job at the end of february or at the beginning of march.
for last 6 months, i was visiting my family in my home country.
now i came back to canada and just found the record of employment in the mail box.
can i still claim for the unemployment insurance after 6 months of quitting my job?

thank you!

Read the rules for EI. To begin with it depends on how many hours you worked and if one does qualify, it has to be proved that you are actively looking for a job and fit and ready to work. Being away on holiday during that 6 month period will be very easy to see in government records and disqualifies you on grounds you were not looking for a job.

Furthermore, I don't believe that people who quit their jobs receive EI (particularly if it is to go on a six month vacation).

Agreed with the two posters above. You definitely don't qualify.

yeah i guess that makes sense ;)
it was just a thought.

thanks all :)
