Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
The reason why I am asking your opinion is that I am anxious lately, about my partner situation. she just finished her maternity leave last August 13, and due to covid 19 phenomenal.,We cannot find an new employer for her, and on the top of that, We just submitted our application for common -law with open permit last April 2, 2020.

She is under the live in caregiver program, and her previous employer terminated her contract after they renewed her. However, her renewed contract will be expire this coming January 2021.

My first concern is to apply for extended employment insurance for her. So I called the designated government agency regarding our dilemma, the agent told us to apply for Extended Ei, not the Cerb program and submit it online application.

So we applied online but we made a mistake of answering one of the questions. So, I decided to went to service Canada office, since they are now open.

Then we explain again our case, and we informed the officer or agent that we made a mistake of answering about the open permit, the correct answer should be ,yes.

To my surprise , the agent said, instead of regular E.I application, my partner should be under Cerb. Since my partner had already done the maternity or regular E.I. I told the agent, we were reluctant about Cerb, because if someday they will declare that my partner will not be eligible, and we need to repay it with interest.

In the end, service canada submitted two application Ei and Cerb. If the E.I will be approved , it take 28 days until my partner received the support.

Firstly,I am wondering, if there is someone who had almost same case like ours.I am hoping, you can share your input. Secondly, it made me realized two agents of the same agency have different opinion . Is this common?
