Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
My profession is skilled, level A. I have another offer from another company, and they are currently applying for an LMO. I have not resigned from my current employer since I was advised to wait for a positive LMO before resigning. The new employer has applied for my LMO last Feb 13, and up until now, the LMO application is still in process. It's almost been 10 weeks!
1. Would it be best if I resign to avoid problems with my LMO application? Would HRSDC check my status with my current employer?
2. Which is more advisable to do? Which would expedite the process?
a.) Apply for concurrent processing of my work permit while the LMO application is in process? there's a risk, since I might have a negative LMO.
b.) Wait for a positive LMO and apply to Vegreville? Or is it possible to apply to Buffalo personally once I have the LMO?

Don't resign your job until you have the new work permit or you may end up with no LMO and no job.

If you are visa exempt, you can apply for a new work permit at the border and get it right away. Bring $150 and the LMO. Otherwise you have to send it to CIC.

I know people who've applied for LMO's for new jobs without telling their employers. I don't think HRSDC checks the status with the old employer at all or that it affects the LMO at all.
