I Missed de deadline to send my passport for my PR

Hello I need help. The renewal of my passport was pending when I received letter to send my passport. The 30 days elapsed before I could get the new passport.
I contacted VAC in New York to send my passport, they asked that the letter asking to send the passport must be valid. I have wrote to IRCC but still waiting for their reply.

Did you explain the holdup was your renewal, which was beyond your control, given you duly filed for renewal? If so, you should be fine. It would have been best if you explicitly requested for an extension given the delay.

In their email, they asked to inform them if I may not meet the deadline. Which I did, explaining that my passport renewal is pending. However, I did not explicitly ask for extension but ask them, what to do if I failed.
After obtaining the new passport, I requested for extension but still waiting.
It has been a month since I sent them an email explaining the passport situation and they haven’t responded to me yet.

You have already done enough to inform them--I just said the extension request would have been the best option.

Even if they have not responded yet, it should be OK, your correspondence will have been in their records.
