Hi everyone.

I have applied in the University of Calgary ( Canada ) for the 2014 Sept intake in the Masters of Computers Science program.

The university has mentioned in its website that they require an IELTS score of 7.5.

Sadly, I have scored 7.

What difference would it make of my chances of getting admission in the University ?
Please guide me. I am worried.

You'll get rejected - you can apply for other schools (a lot of Masters programs in Canada require a "6.5") OR you can re-take the test

Also:
Applicants who have resided in Canada (or another English-speaking country) for at least five consecutive years prior to applying to The University of Calgary may apply for exemption from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.

If you have completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s in a country where English is a second language, but from an English Speaking Post-Secondary Institution please email cpscappl@ucalgary.ca BEFORE you apply to see if you are eligible for exemption from the English Proficiency Requirement. .

Thanks for your advice.

I have seen some people saying that the ones who get a marginal less score ( than the required score) in IELTS but have a good academic record are asked to take up some " english language course" in the University and hence, they are granted admission regardless of the them not fulfilling the minimum IELTS requirement.

Is that true??
