so I was wondering if I know for a fact I will not be available to give in my passport for a full month in December due to traveling. Should I send cic an email from now to tell them? Because that technically means from mid Nov until end of December I won’t be able to give in my passport in case I get PPR (I hit 6 months waiting end of November). Waiting times to get Copr are increasing so I’m worried.

Has anyone faced the same issue before?

Better wait till you get PPR before worrying about that. I don't think you can contact cic BEFORE you even get PPR.

Makes sense, but I thought maybe I could preempt. I’ve seen several people on here having the same concern after they got ppr and were advised to email cic to ask for an extension. I couldn’t find any feedback from the individuals if CIC actually approved it or not though.

yeah but that's after they get PPR usually i guess. i mean unless you're extremely unlucky and get your PPR request on November31st/December 1st you should make it. the deadline is 30 days

What's your nationality? Maybe you don't even need to give your passport away and just a copy will be fine. (but I assume you already know about visa-exempt countries).

Unfortunately my nationality falls under the ones that require to give in the original passport

I guess there’s no way around it but to wait and see. Thanks for the help!
