I applied for immigration under Federal Skilled worker under old rules. I updated my application and other documents in Dec.2009. In March 2010, I discovered a mistake in my application which is related to "if I have ever applied to immigration before and beed refused". In my first application it was "No" which was complete oversight and this was because this application was a long time ago, more than 20 years ago. I wrote a letter to the embassy stating this mistake and correcting it to be "yes". Now, what's worrying me is that I haven't received my medical request though many of my friends and people I know have already received theirs. Could it be because of the mistake I corrected in my application? Do you think such a mistake would lead to a rejection though I corrected it? Plse tell me about your ideas.

I don't think the delay is not for that reason.
However, as you have already admitted your mistake and sent a correction, your file might have been pulled out to review again with your relevant application which was rejected 20 years back. Probably that very old file might have been in archives and may need considerable time. However you can make a follow up about your status via case specific enquiry.

Thank you Wilson,
Have you heard of a similar situation before? I sent an email to the embassy asking about the status of my file and they replied that my file is under background check. What do they mean? My file has been in their office for more than 6 months and they are still doing background check? What do they do in the background check?

making the correction should not be a reason for rejection.
not making the correction would have been a reason for rejection.
So i am sure you okay.

Thank you Wilson and Maatis for your responses. The problem is that all people I know who have a similar timeline have received their medical request except me. Is that a normal thing?

It might delay the processing a little bit but shall not have any negative impact at all on the case. I also made certain correction after sending the file and case was delayed but finally I am in Canada. So do not worry it will be fine.
