Hello,

I got my PR issued on 04.10.2013 and it is valid till 04.03.2019. I landed Toronto on 04.03.2017 intending to live in Canada and take my Canadian Passport. Meanwhile on 04.02.2017 I got married to a Citizen of Canada and we are living together in Toronto.

Since there are no stable jobs in Canada, my husband insists that we go to some other country and make a living. He says that if I live with him outside Canada, still the days will be counted towards citizenship and in 2020 we shall come back and he will apply for my Passport. Please clarify ?

First your statement that you got PR in 2013 but landed in 2017 makes no sense so assume that is a typo given your COPR would have long expired. PR cards expire by the way PR status never expires so assume 2019 is the date your PR card expires.

Anyway any time you spend outside of Canada cannot be counted towards a citizenship application even if with a Canadian citizen. To apply you must show that in the 5 years preceding the application that you have spent a minimum of 1095 days physically in Canada.

The days count towards the PR Residency Obligation, not citizenship.

He is incorrect. It is NOT possible to acquire citizenship by that method.

As everyone has said above plus as per the link below it is totally clear that if you apply in 2020 say June you need to show in the 5 years back to June 2015 that you have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 1095 days which based on information you have provided so far seems unlikely that you can meet if you leave now until 2020..

Note also that if your PR card expires whilst outside of Canada you will need to apply for a PRTD to fly back to Canada given PR cards can only be applied for from with the country. So whilst you are accompanying a Canadian abroad as a PR make sure you keep good records to support any PRTD application as far as answering any residency question.
