i accidentally provided miss information on my Temporary Resident visa. Please help

I was issued a temporary Canadian Visa for 1 year in 2018. I reapplied for the TRV again this year and accidentally clicked NO on the question asking if I had a Canadian visa issued to me in the passed.

I contacted a lawyer who pointed out that I had made this mistake, the reason I contacted him was because of my visa had been stuck in a processing time of 40 days without any answer back from the consulate.

I changed the information on my profile stating I had made a mistake with the reasoning in a help box on the website.

I’ve been informed by the lawyer that my application could be denied as the consulate take miss information very seriously and I could be banned from applying to enter Canada for upto 5 years. Which obviously effects travel to most countries after you have been red flagged by a country.

Any help or anybody who’s gone through a similar situation with any information would be very helpful as this will severely effect my work as I travel for work on multiple visas.

I forgot to add. What are the chances that I am granted the visa after the mistake has been justified.

If you contacted them admitting your mistake, you MIGHT only get a refusal. Then again, there have been people here that have been banned for the same thing. You also waited 40 days, so this may go against you. Your lawyer is correct. Misrepresentation is a very serious issue, even if as you say it was a mistake. All you can do is wait and hope.

You should be fine. People normally fail to declare visa refusals. A previous refusal means that a new app is less likely to be approved, so people try to hide it in their new app to increase their chances of approval. The fact that you were issued a visa previously is actually a positive for your new app, so failing to declare it would likely not be seen as you trying to manipulate the decision to increase your chances of approval.
