First of all, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I have a Guatemalan boyfriend. I am an American/Panamanian citizen with Canadian permanent residency.
I will be going to school full-time and I will also be working.
My plan is to stay in Canada while I finish this degree and get citizenship and then after that, I will go study for my doctorates in the US where it will be easier for my boyfriend to come and stay with me.

I want my boyfriend to come and stay with me for 6 months at a time (or however many months at a time). Is there a way to get this done? He's okay with working on a farm or anywhere else, but he wants to make money while he's in Canada... He has a U.S. visitor's visa and he's a lawyer in Guatemala.

Thanks!

If he wants to work in Canada, he needs to secure a job offer in Canada and his employer in Canada must obtain an approved LMIA. He can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

So the first step is to secure a job offer in Canada. There are a lot of scams out there so be careful.

Note that it's generally very difficult to find employers who are willing to go through the LMIA process.

Yes, if you can prove the relationship and sponsor his PR application.

Did you live together for 12 months continuously after you got your PR? If so, he is your common law partner and you can sponsor him as common law spouse. I am not sure how long will you stay in Canada for school but the sponsorship process could take 12 months or more (some shorter, some longer).

He could apply for visitor visa to visit you but he cannot work.

I don't know if Guatemala has working holiday visa (IEC) or some other work permit program for young professionals, you may want to look into that since that may take shorter time and he could work under those programs.
