How to write a will?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask....

I would like to write a will to leave my assets to my partner. Can somebody guide me where to begin? I live in BC. I don't know the rule here but from where I'm from, common-law partner is not recognized as beneficiary without will. Any advise, guidance would be appreciated.
