I really need help! I am a Canadian citizenship living in the US with my US citizen husband. I started applying for his permanent residencey application today but saw that one part said if my income is lower than what is required then to not submit my application because I am not eligible to sponsor. I don't know what to do now. I am a stay at home mom to our 3 kids ranging from baby to 6 years old and have not worked for 6 years. Before that, I worked full time. So I don't have an income. My husband is the only provider in our household. When we move to Canada we are going to stay with my parents and we are both going to look for a job. Can I have my father or sister be a cosigner for financial support on the application?? It says the co signer can only be a spouse, which doesn't work in my case. Please please, can someone help?? We have been dreaming of moving and raising our children in Canada for years now. I appreciate any advice anyone can give me!

As a spousal sponsorship, the minimum income doesn't apply to you. You have almost the same case as my husband and I. Here's the proof we included:

- my parents' most recent tax information
- a letter from my parents stating that we would be living with them, and they would support us financially until we can establish ourselves
- my Option C printout from Canada Revenue Agency
- my husband's bank booklet
- my parents' T4 (I think that's what they were) slips
- a job offer for my husband (if you can, try to get this...maybe you know someone who can get him a job offer?)

Get proof of your husband's income as well and his tax information (or whatever it is in the US, I'm not sure).

Thank you so much for your post!! It makes me feel alot better about our situation. On the application for sponsorship, where it has the income information, should I write something on there like "see attached paper" or something? Also I'don't know how my husband will get a job offer if we don't even know when we can move there. Both of my parents are retired but they would be able to support us financially if we needed them to until we found jobs. Would that work since they are not working anymore? they own their own house and not getting any kind of government assistance. Did you basically provide all the financial info. from your parents and letter from them stating they will support you in a separate paper attached to the application? Thank you again so much!

Although you are not required to have a minimum income to sponsor, they would ask you to explain how are you planing to support him. you can add these supporting documents as SC mentioned and write a cover letter explaining your plans. May be attached your and spouse's bank statement, if there is sufficient amount to show that you can survive while finding a job for few months.

Thank you!!! You guys have helped me sooo much!!

My husband just got approved as my sponsor today. He had almost no income for the last year, because he lived with me in Europe. We only included a letter from his parents saying that we could live with them for the first little while, also as proof of intending to re-settle in Canada. I don't think you need financial info from your parents as long as they write a letter.

No problem :)

Yes in the income just write "see attached" and put the letter from your parents as well as a letter from yourself explaining your situation right behind it. The job offer isn't necessary, it would be good if you could get one but I wouldn't worry if you can't. Make sure that your parents write on their letter that they are mortgage free (if they are) as well as retired. Have them both sign it as well and provide contact numbers for them so if the immigration officer has any doubts, he/she can just call them easily. Provide their most recent tax information as well. Pretty much everything they asked you to provide, provide your parents' information. It would also be a good idea for you to get as much proof as possible about your husband's current financial situation..bank booklets, bank statements, etc. I'm not sure how they do it in the US but I'm sure he has a few government papers that show his income and whatnot.

That helps so much!!! Yesterday I was so worried, thinking we need to find an immigration lawyer or something and now I feel sooo much better and relieved! Glad it worked out for you and your husband, I hope it works out for us too!!
