How to prove re-establishment of ties to Canada when applying outland? IMM5540E

I live and work in the US. I'm a Cdn citizen but a non-resident. I'm going to sponsor my husband outland, and when he gets his PR, then the whole family (with 2 kids who already have Cdn citizenship) is going to move to Ontario.

Form IMM5540E Sponsorship Questionnaire asks for proof that I plan to re-establish ties to Canada. How do I prove this since I currently have no ties except family? No bank accounts or real estate or anything.

Should I:
Open a bank account there and deposit money there?
Get a rental agreement? (How do I do this since I don't know when we'll move?)

Any ideas that have worked for other people would be appreciated!

Here's what we did:
  • Showed proof that family and friends knew we were going back (letters, emails and social media discussions about the move back)
  • Printed internet browser history showing we were researching jobs and housing
  • Got letters from family saying they knew we were returning and offering to have us stay with them until we got settled
  • Applied for jobs and provided the copies of emails from those job applications
  • With kids - make enquiries about schools in the area you are planning on moving to
  • Email real estate agents to get information about housing availability and pricing in the area you are moving to
  • if you are planning on using a removal company, get a quote early and include that.

Basically, do all the planning you will be doing anyway and show it as evidence to CIC.

We also did a moving checklist together, since we were doing it anyway at some point, and provided this. It's proof that we had discussed together all the issues related to moving back and had put plans in place to make the move should the applications be successful.

You show what you are doing to prepare to move to Canada, if anything at this point. If nothing at this point, get letters or affidavits from family members and friends stating they know about your plans. If your parents are planning to let you live at their house while you get settled, have them write an affidavit about this and any other support they will be giving, such as financial help, childcare, etc.

You also show what you are doing to leave the country you are currently in. You can get a letter from your boss stating he or she knows you will be leaving (if you are willing to tell them so far in advance, of course), a letter from your child's school saying the same thing, any other preparations for moving.

Looking into schooling and extracurricular activities for your children is good proof, and is something that can be done quite a while ahead of time.
 
Thanks for the ideas. Any other thoughts other than avidavits for a retired couple, no kids, no jobs. My husband will apply for his social security once we have his approval
 
I would then provide proof that you are looking to sell your current house or condo, or moving out of your apartment, and are looking for a place to live in Canada.

My husband is Syrian, and we are currently living in Damascus. Our plan is to wait for his residency paperwork to come through, then immediately move to Canada. I don't have any job offers, and we don't have any solid plans for when we get there (we want to arrive, then sort out where he can study at university and where we want to live). Obviously our situation is a bit desperate considering we're living in a war zone.

I feel like living in Syria is proof enough that BOTH of us WILL BE RETURNING to Canada (am I really going to stay here alone??) but still feel as though I likely need to include more proof. I'm not sure if I can submit the application with "WE LIVE IN SYRIA. I AM FOR SURE GOING BACK" or if I really need to include extra evidence that I'll be returning with my husband. Ugh.
 
in our case we got family support letter from her family notery attested and my wife apply jobs online and get prints out and we declear that how much money we have like our bank statment and we got approval .

You don't need to have solid plans but you already have some plans - you intend to look for a suitable university where your husband can study, then look for housing nearby. I don't know how much the war is affecting internet in Damascus but, if you can, do some research online for potential universities. Print out the pages you are looking at. If you are sending email inquiries, print the emails and responses. If friends and/or family know you are planning to go home get them to write letters saying that they know. If you use social media and have told people there that you intend to move back to Canada, print that out with the responses you get to your news.
Plans don't have to be fixed but showing you have plans, have discussed the move, and that friends/family know about it goes a long way to showing your intentions.
