How to get PR dependent visa for spouse?

Hi,

My husband is a permanent resident of Canada and he is right now in Canada.He is gone for a job search and planning to settle there eventually.I want to join him ASAP.I need assistance in getting a PR dependent visa.Please assist me.Should I go through a consultancy or apply directly to the embassy or go through immigration lawyers?

What are the basic requirements to get a PR dependent visa?
