Hi All,

Me and my husband are about to go to USA ( Minneapolis) from India in H1b & H4 respectively. We have a valid visa for 1 yr upto october 2014. As spouse is not allowed to work in H4 & we are going to a place very nearer to Canada we have decided to look for jobs in Canada.
I have some queries regarding getting a job in Canada.
1. Without a job offer is it possible to apply for a open work permit in Canada ? ( i heard either one spouse need to have a job offer and can apply for work permit and after that dependent can apply for open work permit ) . So is it compulsory to have a job from a Canadian employer to apply for work permit?
2.which is easier way for applying work permit in Canada , is it easy to get WP from India or from USA?
3.If we search for a job in canada from USA will be able to find one?
4. My husband have 6 yrs of experience in IT industry in India & I have one and half yr experience in supply chain management field ( I am B.E-EEE graduate) . We both have planned to try for job in Canada from USA , so is this possible?
5. What is the process time that will take to get a open work permit?
6. How much it will cost to get a open work permit in canada from india and from USA.

The process and cost for applying for a work permit is the same regardless if you apply from India or the US. You can find this information on the CIC web site.

Neither of you qualify for an open work permit at this time. For one of you to qualify for an open work permit, the other spouse must first find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer them a skilled full time job and can also obtain an approved LMO. Once the first spouse has applied for and received a closed work permit based on the full time job offer, the second spouse can apply for an open work permit.

So the first thing you need to do is find an employer who is willing to offer you a job in Canada.
