Hello,

I'm planning on starting the journey for the Caregiver Program.

After completion of the PSW education, how do I apply for the 2-year work permit for the Caregiver program? What I find from the IRCC is that I have to apply for the PR and Work Permit altogether immediately after graduation when I get a qualifying job. Is this correct?

Or, do I apply for the work permit first, then the PR after the 2 years?

Any guidance or additional links will be appreciated.

as of June 2019, following feedback that individuals spent 24 months working only to not qualify for PR (for medical reasons, inadequate language abilities, etc), Canada launched a new pathway that ensures you qualify to become a PR prior to being issued a work permit.
you must prove you qualify before they issue you a work permit. Then, once you complete your 24 months of required work, you can apply to become a PR. In theory the process to then become a PR, asyou’ve qualified, should be quicker.
you must have an offer of employment from a Canadian that can prove they have a need for your employment and the funds to pay for your salary.
Hope this helps
