Hello Friends,
I landed in Canada on 30th July. Got basement on rent @550$. Everything is good here. I just wants to know how to start my job search. Seniors kindly comment and also advice would it be fine to get a job through agencies. Kindly advise if you know such agencies in Brampton.

It's not a bad idea to use agencies BUT make sure that you are not the one who need to pay them fees but the employer.
As far as I know the employer pays the agency when they find a suitable candidate and the candidate gets hired.
Not the other way around that you pay them to find a job for you.

But I'd say start by searching jobs at the Canadian Job bank or indeed.ca or even kijiji.

Goodluck! :)

Hi Samar,

I am not the biggest fan of agencies, but it really boils down to the industry that you are looking for a position in and your experience in that industry.

Beyond the usual suspects, such as job boards and agencies, there are a few options that I would recommend considering (in addition to the aforementioned).

1. Some of the YMCA's have career events and sessions for new comers that I have been told are helpful, more so for networking etc.
2. Meetup .com - Find some groups in your industry/areas of interest and go attend their events, you can easily find 2-3 events a week.
3. Community centers/Place of worship - Some/most of these places have bulletin boards that may have opening and often have events new comers and people in the community may be able to help (so I have been told)
4. Information Interviews - Find people in your industry and request meeting them over a coffee for 10-15 minutes, ask them plenty of questions about them, the industry etc. You could start with people you know, and try and get introductions from them to other people who would be willing to talk.

There are many more options, I use #2 and #4 often, and have been offered job through them, but I do those just to meet new people and have people in the industry know who I am.

Hope this helps.

It will be USD 1,500 + your newborn. That's the cancellation fee. But since you want to postpone your departure date for dental treatment, airlines waive the cancellation/extension fee if you can present them with the dental bill attested by your dentist as long as he has attended high school.
