Hi everyone!!!

I first came to Canada in 2010 under Study permit with 3 years of duration and fell in love with a Canadian girl. We got married last year and I eventually sent out my PR application. I've checked my application status in CIC website and it still stays " Application reveived". My staying is going to expire in this August 31st. I wonder if I could use my Marriage certificate to apply for the extension. Is there any possibilities that they would reject my application based on Marriage certificate? If not, how long is the extension usually granted and the whole process would take until I could get their reply? Does my "study permit" affect the result since I've come here under Studying purpose and now applying under Marriage purpose?
I appreciate all the information that you could provide, I really lack of exprerience on this field.
Thanks you all and have a nice one.

You can file the application for the extension of stay. But you need a good reason to explain why you'd like to your stay to be extended. For exaple, your girlfriend is pregnant and you are the one who can care and support her... it's just an example.
They have all the reasons not to extend your stay, especially when you are under the spronsorhip application. Have you applied inland or outland?

Thanks Suin a lot!!!
I've applied Inland and heard that it might take longer than outland to get the result. By the way what if my extension get rejected, it means I have to find another way to remain in canada, otherwise I must leave country, but It also means my application of sponsorship is good for nothing and seems like I'm forced to leave my wife here, that I've never expected.

Did you complete your course? Do you qualify for a post-grad work permit?

Did you include an Open Work Permit with your inland PR application?

Thanks everyone for your responses to my issue!!!
I've never thought it would be that complicated, I actually just finished my English course at an English school in Vancouver. When I was preparing all the paper work to get the Study permit, I got accepted to a program in Thompson University but after I finished my English course ( which was 9months of duration) I found that program didn't suit my study plan so I decided not to go for it, basically I've just completed the English course and haven't moved on to any academic. I also have not ideas about including the work permit with my PR application. All I have right now is the only Marriage certificate and the PR application which already be sent out.

With an inland PR application, you can submit an OWP app along with it. As long as CIC receives it before your current permit expires, the OWP app gives you IMPLIED STATUS, which means you are allowed to stay in Canada. After you receive sponsor approval (taking about 6 months right now), your OWP is active and you can work.

It is still possible for you to submit the OWP app. CIC needs to match up the OWP app with your PR app, so you should include a letter explaining that you already submitted your inland PR app (give all the details and the file number or UCI) but were unaware of the option to send an OWP app with it. Make sure to write at the top of the OWP app itself something like "Inland Spousal Sponsorship - File number or UCI".

Thanks Canuck_in_Uk a lot for your information you've provided me. I've always thought in order to gain OWP, its a must to be hired by a Canadian organization (which I've never been). Also as You've suggested me to send out the OWP application, could you tell me how long it normally takes until they issue the Work Permit for me and what should I enlcose in my OWP? Whats the requirement I should meet in order to get this work permit? My background education is avarage with an English certificate and a bachelor in finance and banking( from the university back to my country).

You don't need a job offer to get an open work permit. That's why it's called "open". You are eligible for it once you get your first stage approval for your inland application.

As said in my previous post and by Leon, the OWP would start once sponsor approval is given. There are no requirements for this permit, it is given on the basis of having submitted an inland PR app. Just send in the app and the letter, like I explained in my previous post.
