Hello everybody,
I have been living in Germany for the past few years. In 2014, I applied for and got Canadian PR. I went to Canada in September, 2015 and after fulfilling the landing requirements, came back to Germany after a few weeks. In the coming months, I would be eligible for German nationality but in order to get it, I would have to give up my current one because Germany does not allow dual nationality. I plan to move to Canada after getting German Nationality. Now, in case I obtain German nationality and give up my current one, how would I be able to enter Canada again? My PR Card would have my old nationality for which I would have no passport (only a notarized photocopy) whereas its not clear whether I can get an eAT using my German passport because I am a PR and thus not eligible for eAT. Has anyone already gone through this situation and can guide? One can contact either CIC or the concerned Canadian Embassy in order to clarify the situation before travelling to Canada but I would like some guidance before taking this step.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi

I highly doubt the airline would even notice the nationality difference on the PR card. If they do ask about it, just say that you left that passport at home. They will not refuse to board you when you hold a valid PR card with a photo and all other details matching your valid passport.

CBSA won't have an issue with it. Carry the notarized copy of your old passport in case they have any questions.

Thank you very much for your reply. I would try to clarify the issue with the airline and if its still not clear, there is always the possibility of either contacting CIC or the Canadian Embassy in Germany.
