Hi everyone,

I am a new member here.

I have a quick question. I applied for Parent sponsorship in 2015 thinking that it would take at least 7 years. However, with new process this now seems to be down to 2-3 years.

Is there a way to delay / stay sponsorship application ?

Thanks,
Ethel

I don't think you can. You can withdraw it and start again in the future.

I would just let it continue processing. If your parents get their PR visa earlier than you want, they can come here and land, then go back to their country. They have to stay in Canada for 2 years out of every 5 to keep their PR status, so they could wait outside of Canada for a year or two after becoming PRs.

You could withdraw the current application, and reapply later. The downsides are you will have to pay again, the timeline might go up in the meantime, and as your parents age they might develop some problem that would prevent them from passing the medical.

Totally agree here. The problem is, if they want to 'delay' the only real way seems to be to withdraw. Do they not return costs for withdrawn cases?

Not all of the money. It depends how far along they are in processing.
