I am a physician of indian origin in USA on J1 visa. I applied online for visitor's visa after being invited for an Annual physician conference starting on Oct 24 in Montreal. I applied on Sep 8th. Still haven't received it.

What complicated things was they needed me to do a medical which I did right away on the 5th of October. Still havent heard anything.

The most frustrating thing is there is no way to contact anybody requesting help or to ask what the situation is. I went physically to the visa application center in NY. I emailed a couple of times. I called the contact numbers which actually explicitly say that they cannot answer any visa questions. I can't believe there is no way to address this situation.

This will mean I won't be able to attend the prestigious conference. So so so so frustrating.

Can anybody help?

The average processing time at the NY visa office is 52 days (after receiving a complete application).

You can try sending a Case Specific Enquiry to:

I did.

FWIW when I applied the wait time was 42 days. Other people in my situation (indians in USA on J1) have received their visas. One in particular applied a day after I did, but he didn't have to do medical.

The current average processing time (for 80% of applications) is 52 days for NY.... it will vary because each application is unique.

As you've already sent the CSE, there's nothing else you can do but to wait
